Humph! Sam is a typical Hobbit who enjoys six meals a day, not including snacks... and mushrooms. No Hobbit is fit for travel, or riding horseback or anything cool like that - but they're the best friends you can have.
I get the impression you like them... so why haven't you written any Hobbit fan fiction?

Merry is...in my opinion thoughtful, and like a brother to Pippin. He watches out for him.

I wonder why he comes - being so short and everything. Sam, Merry and Pippin are all close Hobbit friends of Frodo, so they're not leaving his side for something as simple as the end of the world. Pip is the youngest of the Fellowship (I believe the oldest is about 3000) and yes, pretty unprepared, but he tries! |
