The
Fellowship of the Ring | The
Two Towers | The
Return of the King
Welcome to Fangorn
Forest,
the land of the Ents! Not only can they talk, but they can smash rock!
| Right.
So this is a talking
tree...
Yep
- Treebeard, one of the last 50 or so Ents left living in Fangorn Forest.
Not
many are there?

No,
all
the Entwives left years before, so obviously the er, population isn't
increasing. They are NOT trees I tell you! They just... look like it.
So
what do they do?
Well,
the
Ents knew
Saruman when he was a good
Wizard, but are flabbergasted at his
treachery turning to the Dark
Lord's side. The Ents need some convincing
to this, but I shall explain...
The
Ents appear in TTT, or the second movie, depends what you like to call it.
Merry and Pippin escape from the
Urak Hai that attack them at the end of
the first, and end up in the winding maze that makes up Fangorn Forest.
They end up making a new friend in the form of Treebeard, who is also a
friend of Gandalf's (now the White). Now Ent in general are like trees in
that they do everything s-l-o-w-l-y, like walking (yes, you read that
right) and talking (well, this is Tolkein's world come on! Anything can
talk!) So when Treebeard holds a meeting of all the Ents (about 50,
remember) everything takes a really loooooong time! But, with the
impatience of the Hobbits running out, they eventually get on with things!
Treebeard
quote: "Hill. Yes,
that was it. But it is a hasty word for a thing that has stood here ever
since this part of the world was shaped."
